Show Reports: Cheltenham Literature Festival and Badminton School

We've had a lot of fun on the road this year and October has been no different. Returning for the first time since 2011, the month began with a rather enjoyable trip to the Cheltenham Literature Festival.

For anyone who might be under the impression that our shows are simply an excuse to be silly on stage, here's an educational snippet for you. Robin, caught in action, teaching children how to eat cereal.

That's some honest to goodness LEARNING, right?

Cheltenham was doubly special this year as it marked the first time my son, Calvin, had seen Lorenzo and I in action.  And he was ENTHRALLED!!

Ahem.

After the nonsense, we retired to the Waterstone's bookshop tent for a bit of signing action. The mighty Phoenix Comic had built a creative zone where children could read comics and books and write and draw their own stories. There's always something wonderful about sitting in the middle of that creative energy.

Great fun for all. But while it's fun to travel, it's brilliant to able to perform in our own City, and last week we were lucky enough to be invited to Badminton School to do just that.

Children often ask us if we're famous, and to them I'd reply, you know you've made it when you pull into a car park and find THIS...

I've never had a reserved parking space in my life!  Sad but true.
After that empowering start we got back to the business of giggles.

A particular highlight of this show was when Lorenzo was jumped by Von Doogan.  The intrepid explorer managed to creep up on him when his back was turned!  Here he is, about to pounce.

Many thanks to school librarian Aditi Ghoshray and all the staff and students of Badminton for making us feel so welcome, and providing such a memorable selection of chocolate biscuits! Great coffee too...

If you'd like us Etherington Brothers to appear at your school or library or festival, then simply drop Authors Abroad a line - you can find our page and all the details HERE!

Got the Monday Blues? We've got the cure...

This.

If the Gruffalo giving Robin the old evil eye doesn't put life in perspective then we don't know what does. Happy Monday to you all!

The book will be a 600 page 8.5" by 8.5" softcover MONSTER. The artwork will be divided into chapters themed around character design, pose and gesture sheets, monsters, robots, concept vehicles, environment design, world building and unpublished comics. I've been working on this book for the past four years, and I'm very excited to finally be able to offer it to you HERE ON KICKSTARTER!

So, if all that's got you interested, please lend the campaign a little support, and bag yourself a meaty new artbook at the same time!

Oh, and you'd be my best pal forever if you take a few moments to spread the word about the campaign on your blog/twitter/facebook/tumblr etc. I have no marketing budget for the campaign, so any and all help in getting the word out there would be soooo appreciated!

All that's left to do is show you the reward tiers! To learn more just head on over to the campaign page HERE ON KICKSTARTER!

Cheers!
